kenanbell-alicedisonjpgLa Crescenta-bred rapper Kenan Bell debuts a new single today when “Good Day” hits iTunes – the B-side is track called “T.G.I.F.” that features a guest turn from Aceyalone. Bell, who headlines Spaceland tonight, has been busy finishing up his debut album “Until the Future,” which will be released in March on Sonata Cantata, a new imprint launched by Jon Siebels (ex-Eve 6 guitarist). The label will also be home to releases by Dot Hacker (the new quartet fronted by guitarist Josh Klinghoffer), the Glassell Park 3 and Gavin. … When I saw the Rural Alberta Advantage last spring at SXSW, I couldn’t decide whether their featherweight folk was the biggest affectation ever or whether they just needed a hug. Folkies should flock to the Bootleg Theater tonight, where locals” Pepper Rabbit support. … Elsewhere: The Damselles at the Echo (it’s free if you bring a packaged toy); Ballerina Black rocks the Silverlake Lounge; Joe Purdy at the Hotel Cafe; Shaimus and Paperback Hero at the Viper Room; and the second night of the All-American Rejects at the Roxy.
