Interesting night ahead at the Vanguard, where the Red Bull Sound Clash pits Kid Sister against Moving Units, with the bands squaring off against each other from stages at opposite ends of the venue. The hip-hop vs. rock showdown will feature four rounds of “competition” in which the acts will show their stuff, with some material planned, some improvised. Hmm. … Saint Motel, the quartet the turned their September residency into a theatrical mini-extravaganza, return to Spaceland for one more night of high jinks – tonight’s show includes a photo booth and the chance to get your own Saint Motel holiday card. … San Francisco electro-rockers Lilofee [pictured[ are in town to celebrate the release of their “Runway” single on Origami (the label), by playing an in-store at Origami (the vinyl record store) in Echo Park. Then the band heads a next door to play the Echo, supported by Twilight Sleep, Acid Girls and War Tapes. … Also: Zero 7’s sold-out show at the Orpheum; radio giant Power 106’s Cali Christmas at the Gibson with 50 Cent, T-Pain and others; the Good Listeners at the Bootleg Theater; Melt Banana at the Troubadour; the Monthlies and Golden State at the Viper Room; Deep Sleep Ops at the Silverlake Lounge; Miranda Lee Richards, Eagle Winged Palace and others doing a holiday party at 3 Clubs; and, should you start your evening early, Correatown and Obi Best at Spaceland on Ice in Pershing Square starting at 7.
