Video: Local Natives, ‘Airplanes’

Owing to the band having played 4,523 shows last year in southern California, and a few more at varying locales east of here, every avid showgoer on the Eastside has a favorite Local Natives song. “Airplanes” is mine. I liked it way back when (yes, that long ago); I like it now … something about the way the introductory piano line commingles with the bassline and gets all warm and nostalgic, or the way the “I want you back” chorus ties everything into a bow. The video is fitting, I guess; if this isn’t somebody’s house for real, then kudos for the set design. The song finally gets properly released on Feb. 16, when the Coachella-bound quintet’s debut “Gorilla Manor” comes out on Frenchkiss Records.
Do you ever have a moment when something finally clicks? I’ve been hearing so much about the Local Natives lately and I now finally get it. 🙂
Great Video. Great Song. Really nice to see the two coming together so well and it has been awhile for me to find a video I enjoyed more. thanks for posting.
