On the night after London buzz kids Mumford & Sons packed the Troubadour, another ballyhooed British band, Wild Beasts, takes on the U.S. by playing the West Hollywood venue. The Leeds four-piece [that’s the video for “We Still Got the Taste Dancin’ on Our Tongues,” above], whose sophomore album “Two Dancers” showcases intensely dramatic pop built on Hayden Thorpe’s woundedly operatic vocals, makes its U.S. debut supported by Toronto quintet Still Life Still, also making its L.A. debut. … Pete Yorn heads up a big benefit for Haiti relief at the Bootleg Theater, joined by Cursive’s Tim Kasher, Shudder to Think’s Craig Wedren and guests. … The Dig, along with Silent Star, the Passports and Imagine Dragons, plays Club NME at Spaceland. … At the Viper Room, it’s the Hundred Days and Golden State. … And Big Phony plays the first of two album-release shows for “Kicking Punching Bags” at the Hotel Cafe. … Also: Dntel at the Airliner; Findlay Brown at the Echo; Samuel Stewart at Echo Curio; the Tuffingtons at the Silverlake Lounge; and Justin Townes Earle’s 7 p.m. in-store at Amoeba.
After the jump, check out the video for Still Life Still’s “Pastel”:
