[Off to SXSW soon – I’m warmed up, and some local bands are getting there too …]
Their sophomore album “Volume Two” comes out March 23, and She & Him – that’s Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, if you don’t remember them from the Paste magazine cover, and that’s their video for their rather saccharine pop ditty “In the Sun,” above – get ready to take on Austin by playing a show at Largo. … L.A.’s Andy Clockwise is SXSW-bound too, and he prepares with a headlining date at the Troubadour, supported by Le Switch, Marvelous Toy and Matt Ellis. … Jonneine Zapata, Children Collide and Sweaters perform at a big pre-SXSW party at the Roxy. … Gregory Page plays the album-release show for his album “Heartstrings” at the Hotel Cafe. … The Monday residencies are going strong too – with Pop Noir opening for the Delta Mirror at the Echo, Corridor supporting Moonrats at Spaceland and the Damn Sons playing ahead of Seaspin at the Silverlake Lounge. … Also: Former/Future at the Viper Room; the So So Glos at Pehrspace; and Halina Larsson at Bordello.
