First, two indie bands with new albums I highly recommend: The Morning Benders (with Miniature Tigers and We Barbarians supporting, play the Troubadour; and the Deadly Syndrome [Chris Richard, pictured] celebrating the release of “Nolens Volens” at the Echoplex, with Signals and Rabbits opening. … Second, we have tonight’s mystery guests – the Roxy is hosting something called the Twestival, a charity event for the humanitarian organization Concern Worldwide, and it boasts a secret big-name headliner (think Coachella-level, I am told). Hmmm … The Ray Davies tour featuring  the 88 comes to a fantastic finish at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills. … At Hollywood Forever Cemetery, LA Approved is putting on a free show featuring Dead Meadow (their new album “Three Kings” is just out digitally; see show details here), Dios and Lantvrn. … Good stuff at Spaceland, with Buzz Bands LA faves Glacier Hiking and Eastern Conference Champions teaming up. … She & Him perform at a sold-out El Rey Theater. … The Low Anthem is joined by Timber Timbre at the Bootleg Theater. … And New Zealand’s Kerretta plays the Smell. … Also: John Mayer at the Staples Center; Bad Religion at the House of Blues; Tobacco and mash-up kings the Hood Internet at the Echo; Grand Hallway at the Silverlake Lounge; the Photo Atlas and the Rouge at the Viper Room; Joey Ryan at the Hotel Cafe; and the Rhone Occupation at Echo Curio.
