Coachella: The Soft Pack, your Sunday alarm clock

Who: The Soft Pack at the Mojave Tent
In 3 or Fewer Words: Rock ’n jangle.
I’ll Remember This Until the Next Time I’m Tempted to Sleep In Because: Nervy, catchy post-punk pitched somewhere between a yelp and a roar – either way, the Soft Pack’s set early Sunday afternoon was solid, hyper-hummable stuff. Perhaps not quite the adrenalized show needed to shake a slightly listless and aching Day 3 audience from their sunny somnolence, but still a nice, nerve-jangled sound to ease oneself into Coachella’s homestretch. Besides, with songs like the insidiously anthemic and jittery “C’mon” sidling up next to tunes like the woozy waltz of “Mexico,” it was a more than appropriate way to start the day for those of us who like our rock ’n’ roll with teeth – even when they do chatter nervously now and again.
What I’d Tell My Friends Who Missed The Soft Pack to Sleep Off a Saturday Night Hangover: Your head and feet may forgive you, or yours ears are gonna regret it.
