[On this final day of April, birthday wishes go out to Amanda Palmer, who, according to her Twitter feed, was last seen in a taxi in Germany searching for lodging. Now, on to our regular programming:]

Saturday: It’s Avi Buffalo’s big coming-out party – the young Long Beach quartet released its debut album this week, and has a summer of touring (with the likes of Modest Mouse, Blitzen Trapper and one big band they haven’t announced yet) ahead. Tonight’s record-release show at the Troubadour might be the last L.A. sees of the foursome until August. … A couple other big shows featuring top-drawer local bands: No Age headlines a noisy bill at the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts; and Nico Stai teams up with Shadow Shadow Shade at the Bootleg Theater. … Spirit Animal joins Free Moral Agents for a party at downtown’s Redwood Bar. … Circle Jerks and 7 Seconds rock the Fox Theater in Pomona. … And Portugal. The Man plays an acoustic show (8 p.m.) at Space 15Twenty on Cahuenga in conjunction with the “Los Angeles, I’m Yours” art show. … Also: The Ponys at Spaceland; So Many Wizards at the Smell; Snow and Voices at the Hotel Cafe; Needtobreathe at the El Rey Theatre; and Devin the Dude at the Roxy.

Sunday: Chris Cornell plays a solo set at the Roxy as part of his “Songbook Series.” (And he’s back at the Sunset Strip venue on Monday night to do a benefit for the Fulfillment Fund.) … Solid Gold parties down at Spaceland, supported by Marvelous Toy and the 22-20s. … The Grand Ole Echo program offers up Old Californio and Paul Chesne Band for its 5 p.m. bill. … Later at the Echo, Part Time Punks plays host to Voxhaul Broadcast. … And Charlie Wadhams and Bonfire Madigan play the Bootleg Theater. … Also: Aaron Roche & the Choir at Your Door at the Hotel Cafe; Scars on Broadway at the Troubadour; and A Day to Remember at the Fox Theater.
