The title track to Admiral Radley’s debut album is called “I Heart California,” and it’s too bad the band couldn’t have put a winking emoticon after it. Because the California of Ad Rad – the new quartet featuring Aaron Espinoza and Ariana Murray of Earlimart and Jason Lytle and Aaron Burtch of Grandaddy – is not exactly the idyllic destination of postcards and mvoies, and the band has some fun with those notions as only guys from the Central Valley could. Unless, of course, you find romance in “Long walks on the 5.” The album is out July 13 via The Ship, the new imprint Espinoza is spinning off of his recording studio by that name.
