Local Natives – today’s Beach Boys? Well, Silver Lake’s favorite harmonizers are in Matthew Lessner’s video for “World News,” a song off the quintet’s hit debut album “Gorilla Manor.” I’m not sure what to make of the clip’s uniformed interlopers, except that somehow the fact that they are inspired to crash the beach party subtly underscores the song’s (and perhaps the album’s) underlying dichotomy: embrace life, despite “World News.” Meanwhile, the fivesome’s juggernaut rolls on: Local Natives are currently on a U.S. tour with Suckers, and their L.A. dates June 4 at the Troubadour and June 5 at the Bootleg Theater are sold out.
