Download: The Prids, ‘I’ll Wait’

If nothing else, the Prids qualify as the indie-rock band whose story is most likely to be made into a Lifetime movie. Down-and-out frontman David Frederickson changes his life after meeting and marrying Mistina La Fave (please don’t change that name in the movie script); they take up music and settle in Portland; they divorce; they somehow survive a van crash/roll-over en route to a gig in L.A. in 2008; friends and fans rally to their aid to help with medical bills and replace $16,000 in lost equipment, in part by making a killer Prids tribute album, “Dots to Connect.” The Prids (who include drummer Lee Zeman and keyboardist Maile Arruda) have survived to make another album, “Chronosynclastic” (Urban Dictionary tells me: “The name given to someone who exists for the sole purpose of correcting grammar written by others.”). The album is out on Velvet Blue Music on June 11, and although their material has been a bit uneven since I first fell for “Love Zero” in 2003, this one is very promising.

Lee Zeman is my hero. He used to be in One Size Fits Most. They were an amazing punk band! He does great flyers. Will have to check that show out.
