Tonight in L.A.: The Young Veins, Miike Snow

[Hello, hello … Anybody out there on a Monday holiday? No? Yes?]

theyoungveinsAdd the Young Veins to the latest batch of groups diving into the Swell Sounds of the Sixties. Or Something Similar. The L.A.-based quintet, spearheaded by ex-Panic at the Disco dudes Ryan Ross and Jon Walker, conjoin a little British Invasion with a little West Coast sunshine for a sound that’s the perfect fashion accessory for summer. (And, yes, their debut album “Take a Vacation!,” out June 8, might last as long as that $8 pair of sunglasses you buy at the beach.) If you weren’t around for HHH, RFK or SDS, you will find the Young Veins the perfect male complement to the current flood of girl-group pop. And you should see them tonight at the Echo, where they are supporting the Like. (They’re back June 8 for their in-store at Origami Vinyl, as well as June 19, opening for Rooney at the Fonda Theatre.)

||| Download: “Take a Vacation!” (via Filter). Postscript: When I gave my e-mail address in exchange for the free download of “Change” via the band’s website, the download gave me only 1:01 of the song.

Also tonight: Miike Snow’s sold-out show at the Fonda Theatre; Wire in the Walls and Sing Orpheus joining the final night of the War Tapes residency at the Silverlake Lounge; the Physics of Meaning at Spaceland; Sonos at It’s a School Night at Bardot;
