Spirit Animal: It’s what’s for dinner

File under: Appetite for touring. L.A. electro-funk band Spirit Animal (whom some of you might remember from the Buzz Bands LA holiday party in December) arrived a novel way to try to finance this summer’s tour behind their debut album “The Cost of Living.” Frontman Steve Cooper will make dinner for you. Provided, of course, you help the cause. The band is using a Kickstarter campaign – “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner: Spirit Animal Live In Your Town and Kitchen!” – to solicit donations to fund the tour. One of the incentives: Chef Cooper will make a house call. Cooper can croon and maybe even rap a little, but how is he in the kitchen? He shows you on Feed Your Head, a website hosting his “reality cooking mini-series” each week this month. As the press release says: “Gourmet food from a seen-better-days L.A. apartment.” The fundraiser’s big finish will be June 30 at the Redwood, when Cooper prepares a three-course prix fixe dinner for 50.
