Ears Wide Open: Telegram

The L.A. quartet Telegram might not be on your radar yet – they’ve played only one proper show – but fans of shimmering, anthemic rock will find them soon enough. They’re releasing three three-song EPs (recorded with Andrew Prickett and Barrett Slagle) with titles that sound like Dick and Jane primers but, the band explains, deal “with simple (but infinitely complicated) properties of existence”: “We Work and See,” “We Work and Play” and “We Come and Go.” The foursome – singer-guitarist Nick Logie and drummer Sam Gallagher (both ex-Wallpaper Airplanes), guitar-effects maestro Tucker Cauble and bassist Cory Hunter – trades in early Radiohead-style atmospherics and dynamics that can soothe your mind one minute and blow your hair back the next. We’ve gotten the message.

I listened to the EPs on bandcamp. Not bad– sounds like they’d be worth checking out live.
the links have now been fixed, and the item was fixed to insert a missing name. apologies for the confusion.
