[What a weekend ahead. Festivals, great big shows, great small shows, George Michael’s birthday … There’s a lot to mention here, so follow along.]

Two festivals that have plenty of you buzzing:
Electric Daisy Carnival, today and Saturday at Exposition Park and the L.A. Coliseum. [Set times here.]
Vans Warped Tour, today at the Home Depot Center in Carson and Sunday at Seaside Park in Ventura. [Set times aren’t announced until morning of show.]

Eleven other ways to make your weekend fullfilling and gratifying and probably ensure you’ll go back to work Monday very tired:

The Rescues celebrate the release of “Let Loose the Horses” tonight at the Troubadour. [Their single “Break Me Out” is the free iTunes song of the week.]
‣ Garage-rocker Ty Segall, along with Sonny & the Sunsets, plays tonight at Spaceland.
‣ At the Long Beach Aquarium from 7 to 10 tonight, the “Night Dive” series features Lemon Sun and Jail Weddings.
‣ Seductive Miss Derringer gets all dressed up tonight for the Viper Room.
Black Francis does solo acoustic shows tonight and Saturday at the Mint.
Everest plays a free show as part of KCRW’s Summer Nights series at 7 Saturday at One Colorado.
Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, joined by fiery U.K. quartet the Heavy, do their thing Saturday night at the Wiltern. [Trade your e-mail for a download of the title track of Jones’ album “I Learned the Hard Way.”]
A Place to Bury Strangers, supported by Chicagoans Light Pollution and locals Useless Keys, bring the noise on Saturday at Spaceland.
Lou Barlow holds forth at the Bootleg Theater on Saturday.
Harlem, Voxhaul Broadcast and We Barbarians team up for a great bill Saturday at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa.
‣ Ryan Gosling brings Dead Man’s Bones to the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts on Saturday and Sunday.

Moses Campbell tonight at Pehrspace.
The LA Record 100 party Saturday at Nomad Gallery featuring Abe Vigoda.
‣ And a longtime Buzz Bands indie fave, Minipop, is down from San Francisco on Saturday to celebrate its EP release with a show at the Strange Gallery (Melrose at Heliotrope).
