The Heavy announced as the special guests for July’s Also I Like to Rock series at Hammer Museum

The Heavy, the U.K. quartet whose gritty take on soul, funk, reggae and blues has captivated American audiences and earned them tour dates with Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, will be announced today as the special guests for the July 15 installment of the Hammer Museum’s Also I Like to Rock series.

Saint Motel and Kitten kick off the sixth annual series of the Hammer’s free, all-ages rock shows this Thursday. On July 8, Admiral Radley and the Happy Hollows rock the museum’s courtyard, and the following week, the Heavy will be joined by local soul sensations Fitz & the Tantrums. Up-and-coming rockers Voxhaul Broadcast and Chasing Kings cap the weekly series on July 22.

DJs from KCRW will spin before and between the live sets, which begin at 8 p.m. each Thursday. There’s $3 parking beneath the Hammer (corner of Westwood and Wilshire boulevards), and the museum’s galleries will be open until 9 each night.
