[Cheers to Amusement Parks on Fire’s Michael Feerick on his birthday.]
Top 3 places I’d considering going were I not going to thoroughly enjoy Admiral Radley and the Happy Hollows at the free Also I Like to Rock show at the Hammer Museum (consider that an invitation to join me; we can karaoke the mock-Schwarzenegger chorus of “I Heart California” together):
‣ Au Revoir Simone holds forth at the Echoplex.
‣ Wires in the Walls, Oh Darling, the Steelwells and Wake Up Lucid team up at Spaceland.
‣ And A B & the Sea, What Laura Says and So Many Wizards rock the Rumble at 3 Clubs.
Your tastes may vary: Ernie Halter‘s release party for “Franklin & Vermont” at the Roxy; Benji Hughes at Largo; the Fay Wrays at the Viper Room; Pop Noir at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa; Brian Wright & the Waco Tragedies at the Hotel Cafe; Sugarland at the Greek Theatre; Tan Dollar and Nicole Kidman at the Smell; Spell Talk at the Silverlake Lounge; Dan Reed at the Mint; Les Blanks at Casey’s downtown after Artwalk; and Konono No. 1 at the Santa Monica Pier.
||| Watch: A video the Happy Hollows’ Sarah Negahdari made for her demo “Amethyst” with footage from her cell phone.
