The L.A. Times Pop & Hiss blog is all over this news, but the HARD L.A. festival scheduled for Saturday at Los Angeles State Historic Park has been canceled for security reasons. The cancellation comes about a year after another event from DJ/promoter Gary Richards, HARD Summer, was shut down after crowds at the Forum became unruly.
The real reason for cancellation is lack of ticket sales. the price was $65+. Last years FYF fest held at the same location was only $20, with a much more diverse and overall better line up. FYF set a price precedent that probably deterred many from buying tix to an event that didn’t measure up to other events that took place at the same location.
