Young the Giant, the youthful SoCal quintet that will release its debut album digitally on Oct. 26 on Roadrunner Records, has postponed the remainder of its residency at the Troubadour this month after getting an offer to join Marina and the Diamonds on tour. The band’s reps say the tour opportunity was too good to pass up, and that the Troubadour dates will be rescheduled.

‣ The Santa Monica venue formerly known as 14 Below is officially reborn this weekend as the Central – or, if you want the long version, the Central Social Aid & Pleasure Club. A show on Saturday night featuring Busdriver, Sister Crayon and Nocando christens the room (1348 14th St.), which is being envisioned as a bit more than a typical nightclub. The two-room venue (one for live music that accommodates 275 patrons) sees itself eventually as an artists’ hub and locus for nonprofit organizations. The talent buyers for the venue are the same folks who book the Mint, Viper Room and Saint Rocke.
