KCRW is in the middle of its summer pledge drive, and, yes, Buzz Bands will be picking up the phone again. But we’re not sure bloggers have this kind of jack: Subscribers who donate at the “Archangel” level – that’s $1,000 or more – are eligible to request a pair of tickets to a special intimate performance on Sept. 6 by Interpol. Send me an angel, indeed.
‣ Set times for When You Awake’s Free for All on Saturday have been announced. Akron/Family headlines at 10:30.
‣ Travis Keller announced via Twitter early today that Buddyhead the label (which early this year released the latest from Dios) “is dead.”
‣ In case you were sleeping when it was announced Wednesday (I was beyond the Internet’s tentacles), the dates for Coachella were announced: April 15-16-17. Stagecoach, meanwhile, will be two weeks later, April 30-May 1.
‣ San Francisco’s Birds & Batteries have signed to SoCal imprint Velvet Blue Music. You might like “Strange Kind of Mirror” (via Magnet), from their forthcoming third album “Panorama” (due Oct. 12).
‣ Another track that caught my ear comes via Portland synth-pop band Lovers, who just signed to Badman. Their album is also due Oct. 12. “Figure 8.”
