Thursday is the new Saturday and here’s 5 ways to prove it:
‣ A kick-ass double Josh Homme [pictured above] bill with Queens Of The Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal descends upon Club Nokia tonight to raise funds for Eagles of Death Metal bassist Brian O’Connor. Net proceeds from the show will be contributed to a fund for O’Connor, who was recently diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing treatment in Los Angeles. The show is in conjunction with Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.
‣ Festival heavyweights My Morning Jacket play at the Greek with local faves Avi Buffalo opening.
‣ Indie darlings Tokyo Police Club cross the border bringing along Freelance Whales and the Arkells at the El Rey.
‣ The amazing Breakestra recreate what a DJ does with scratching, with a full brass funk band, at the Santa Monica Pier.
‣ Empire Of The Sun repeat at the Music Box at the Fonda. No headdresses required.
Your tastes may vary: Brothers in the Grass at the Cinema Club, Culver City; Meatloaf at the Gibson Ampitheatre; Coheed and Cambria, Porcupine Tree and the Dear Hunter at the Wiltern (previously at the Palladium); AWOLNATION and War Tapes at the Viper Room; Lila Nelson at the Silverlake Lounge; Paper Sword and Lost In The Trees at the Hotel Cafe; Angie Mattson at the Redwood Bar; Simon Stokes at Spaceland; Gamble House at Pershing Square; Slang Chickens at Casey’s downtown; the Ataris at Chain Reaction; and Colin Hay at the Orange County Fair.

wonder what Avi Buffalo will sound like without Rebecca
her vocals made the songs soar and the keyboards kept a song structure while Avi went off in space
