Seems as if it’s been forever since Great Northern unveiled its shimmering sophomore album “Remind Me Where the Light Is.” [Maybe it’s time to dust that album off?] The dream-pop duo of Solon Bixler and Rachel Stolte has been in the studio working on new material, “writing, recording, plotting” and working on “other exciting new projects soon to be discussed,” according to a missive on their website. So it was a nice surprise when this kaleidoscopic video for “New Tricks” popped up on You Tube’s music front page. The video stars Stolte and a bunch of octopi, and it’s the work of director Jason Zada, shot in super-high-definition format at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. File under deep-sea reveries.
