Joshua Fisher, the guy behind the marketing/consulting company Heart Music Group, is one fellow who was championing Baths’ Will Wiesenfeld when the electro wunderkind was still making music under the name Post-Foetus. Now Baths has lent a previously unreleased track to a (free) six-track EP that Heart is releasing digitally. Besides Baths, the collection features Teen Daze, Light Pollution, Blackbird Blackbird, Gobble Gobble and Kites Sail High – all artists that fall under the experimental/electro umbrella (or “chillwave,” if that term doesn’t already make your skin crawl). Baths’ “Nordic Laurel” is downright gorgeous. Bliss out.
Labels for music are usually invented by music writers as a shorthand to describe different genres. They don’t really bother me at all since they don’t make any particular music good or bad.
