Tonight in L.A.: MNDR, Helen Stellar, White Arrows

1

MNDR[Happy birthday, Julian Casablancas, who, the archives tell me, was born in 1978 on the day Keith Moon died.]

Top 4 detours from the Hollywood Bowl traffic jam for the Dave Matthews Band concert there:

MNDR (pronounced Mander), the nom de dance music of Amanda Warner (pictured) and Peter Wade, play the RSVP-only It’s a School Night at Bardot. Also appearing: Maximum Balloon (featuring Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio), making their performance debut and do a duo DJ set from the stage. MNDR (who appear on the Mark Ronson song “Bang Bang Bang”) opened for Massive Attack earlier this year. Clear some space for a dancefloor, wouldja? Check out “I Go Away”:

Helen Stellar plays at the Silverlake Lounge in support of the Twilight Sleep’s residency (as do Robotanists).
White Arrows’ residency night at Spaceland figures to be good from start to finish, with the Outline, Heavy Young Heathens and Gamble House playing.
‣ And Fol Chen has invited the metal band Viscera to perform their set at tonight’s residency installment at the Echo. Interesting. Crocodiles, excellent last week, return to support, along with Woom.

Your tastes may vary: Andy Clockwise’s early set at the Hotel Cafe; Rock Sugar at the House of Blues; Portrait of a Nightmare at the Viper Room; Marc Cogman and Darrell Criss at the Mint; and Stellaluna at Pehrspace.
