A while back I discovered a nice series of online music downloads from Levi’s – now I get marketed some footwear to go with my jeans. A series of 10 songs (and videos) sponsored by Dr. Martens (happy 50th birthday) includes some pretty cool covers, including this one by the Raveonettes (even if the video is a bit cloying). It is with some trepidation that I even submit Stone Roses’ covers to my ears – “I Wanna Be Adored” is the one of the best songs from one of my favorite albums of all time – and in remaking songs the best of intentions often go awry. How much do I want to forget that Year of the Rabbit covered this song? A lot. Anyway, my favorites among the freebies are covers by the Duke Spirit, the Noisettes and L.A.’s own Dam-Funk.
