There’s plenty of the familiar in the music of U.S. Royalty, and not just because the co-founders of the Washington, D.C., quartet are named John and Paul. That pair – the Thornley brothers – along with Jacob Michael and Luke Adams are readying their debut album “Mirrors” for winter release, and from their early recordings, which range from scratchy indie blues to propulsive-but-far-less-blustery Killers alt-rock, it’s anyone’s guess that it will sound like. There was a little of both on last year’s “Midsommar” EP, and the forthcoming disc was produced by Gus Oberg, who’s worked with the likes of Albert Hammond Jr., Willie Nelson and Bloc Party. The foursome visits for its first Los Angeles show behind the release of the teaser song “Equestrian,” which fans of Local Natives might take a shine to.
