Top 7 shows on a criminally overbooked night on which Buzz Bands could hit any of 10 shows and have a very good time:
‣ Tim Booth and James, whose music occupied a special place in our soundtrack to the ’90s, is back with a good new album “The Morning After the Night Before.” They play the Music Box supported by vastly underrated (but maybe not for long) U.K. singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt.
‣ Corin Tucker, whose music in Sleater-Kinney, occupied a special place in our soundtrack to the ’90s (and a little beyond), debuts her Corin Tucker Band at the El Rey Theatre, with Portland’s Golden Bears and local quartet Wait. Think. Fast opening.
‣ Dutch indie-rockers Bettie Serveert, whose music occupied a special place in our soundtrack to the ’90s, plays Spaceland in support of the new album “Pharmacy of Love” [get a song here], with up-and-coming Long Beach folk-rockers the Fling opening.
‣ Scottish quintet Frightened Rabbit bring their big, emotional anthems to the Mayan Theatre.
‣ And gypsy punk-rockers Gogol Bordello do the wild thing at Club Nokia.

Top 2 shows on the local tip (and there are plenty more where these came from):
‣ El Ten Eleven brings the mind-bending instrumental rock of its new album “It’s Still Like a Secret” to the Bootleg Theater, where Baths supports.
‣ And Off! – the new quartet featuring a lot of familiar names (Keith Morris, Dimitri Coats, Mario Rubalcaba and Steven McDonald) – celebrates its EP release with a show at Club Lingerie that follows a 7 p.m. in-store at Amoeba.
Also tonight: Matt Costa at the Troubadour; the Acorn and Stone Darling at the Echo; Go West Young Man and Square on Square at the Silverlake Lounge; Cinjun Tate (of Remy Zero) at 3 Clubs; Exile at Low End Theory at the Airliner; Viva City at the Viper Room; Brujeria at the House of Blues; Dancing Heals at the Hotel Cafe; and Minus Ned at the Mint.
