Tonight’s top show for people who don’t feel like paying for a show:
‣ Mini Mansions – the brainchild of Michael Shuman (Queens of The Stone Age) along with Zach Dawes and Tyler Parkford – unveil their self-titled debut album next week on Josh Homme’s Rekords Rekords imprint. It’s a quirky but intoxicating stew of psychedelia cooked with seemingly simple ingredients: keyboards, bass and percussion. And it’s worth getting your ears around. Mini Mansions (joined by Slang Chickens) perform a free show tonight (7 p.m.) in the courtyard at Space 15 Twenty.
Here’s everything else: Moving Picture Show’s record-release show at the Viper Room; Built to Spill, RevoltRevolt and Finn Riggins at the El Rey Theatre; Corinne Bailey Rae and Orgone at the Avalon; Fun., Steel Train and Jarrod Gorbel at the Music Box; Kate Nash at the Glass House in Pomona; Foxy Shazam and Free Energy at the Troubadour; Bilal, J*Davey and Quadron at the Echoplex; Fear at the Key Club; Bring Me the Horizon and August Burns Red at the Fox Theater in Pomona; Black Cobra and Black Math Horseman at Spaceland; Meiko and Joey Ryan & Kenneth Pattengale at the Hotel Cafe; Breathe Owl Breathe and Little Wings at the Bootleg Theater; the Damned Things at the Roxy; Raw Power Rangers at the Echo; Bruce Beacom at the Mint; and Spindrift at the Redwood Bar.
