Top shows on a night the show schedule makes my little old head spin:
‣ Eastern Conference Champions celebrates the release of its new “Akustiks” EP [sample those wares here] at the Hotel Cafe, joined by Beautiful Small Machines.
‣ Passion Pit (pictured) headlines the Palladium on a stacked bill that includes new Sub Pop signing Mister Heavenly (Nick Diamond of Islands and Honus Honus of Man Man, with Michael Cera playing bass) along with very good local bands We Barbarians and Pepper Rabbit.
‣ Kitten [it’s release day for their “Sunday School” EP] closes out its residency at the Echo supported by a couple of strong L.A. acts, Red Cortez and the Sea of Cortez.
‣ There’s a loaded local lineup at the Bootleg too – Gangi is joined by White Sea, the Delta Mirror and Tape Deck Mountain.
Not to mention: Rob Crow of Pinback and Kenseth Thibadeau of Three Mile Pilot at the Satellite [f/k/a Spaceland]; Jonathan Richman at the Troubadour; the final night of Street Drum Corps’ “Big Noise” residency at the Roxy; Tha Boogie and Free Moral Agents at the Rec Center in Echo Park; Neil Sedaka at Disney Hall; Peter Asher’s one-man show at the Grammy Museum; Big Freedia and Hawnay Troof at the Echoplex; Maniac and Oh Darling at the Silverlake Lounge; Modern Time Machines, Marvelous Toy and the Lonely Wild at LaBrie’s in Glendale; and Reckless Kelly at the Mint.
