The Get Up Kids get a lot of ink as an emo forebear, but back in the day the average music fan didn’t know emo from Nemo they were just a very good power-pop band, with incredible hooks and smart lyrics. The Kansas lads fractured in the middle part of last decade but returned this year with the “Simple Science” EP and now have a new album “There Are Rules” ready for release in January. It’s rawer that most of GUK’s guitar-driven pop, and splashes of synths and fuzz update the quintet’s sound nicely. Not going comfortably into middle age, these guys.

Uh?
Can’t wait for the new album! Been waiting for years!
Love it
safe review for a crap song. i don’t fault you for your positive position. i get it… but i’d love to hear what you really think over a beer. The first two songs off this album suck. The random resonance/distortion techno sounds throughout out make the inside of my head swell. It’s more annoying than anything. — Those guys haven’t mixed a record correctly since four minute mile. — Rock, just rock. Cut this bullshit.
