Moving Units were on the forefront of the dance-punk revival when they unleashed their first EP back in 2002 – if “Between Us & Them’s” bass line didn’t get your body shaking, you were probably on too many downers. For sundry reasons (including having released its very good 2004 debut “Dangerous Dreams” on a label mainly devoted to films), the L.A. trio of Blake Miller, Chris Hathwell and Johan Boegli never got as big as they should have. Now their first music since 2007’s uneven “Hexes for Exes” is on the way; the “Tension War” EP is due on Valentine’s Day. In between M>U exploits, Miller has spent a lot of time in the DJ world, so it’s no surprise that these four remix-ready songs sound more electro. In fact, “Pink Redemption” is a re-imagining of “Pink Thoughts” off their 2007 album. No question, though, Miller and crew still have the goods.
