Coachella lineup announcement is nigh

The lineup for the 2011 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival is coming Tuesday – at 5 p.m. via KROQ-FM, or so they say, but my money is on the Los Angeles Times having it first. They always do. Meanwhile, the rogue artists who do the fake posters have been busy; I’ve seen more of them floating around this year than ever. I stopped obsessing over the lineup a couple of years ago, because no matter how many curveballs Goldenvoice throws us, it’s still a great value. Not to mention the only time Zola Jesus’ name will appear on the same piece of paper as Arcade Fire’s.
I’d love to see Bob Dylan or Pulp or Blur or the Beastie Boys or Bowie, but those names for now are only on wish lists. Neil Young? Duran Duran? PJ Harvey? Can’t say for sure, but bring them on. Please, God, no Gaga.
Here’s who I like for this year’s festival (it’s probably not gonna be big news to anybody who’s a Coachella forum fanatic):
Abe Vigoda
Arcade Fire
Best Coast
Bright Eyes
Cold War Kids
Cults
Daft Punk
Daniel Lanois’ Black Dub
Delta Spirit
David Guetta

Miniature Tigers
Monarchy
Mumford & Sons
Neon Indian
Phantogram
Robyn
Tame Impala
The Morning Benders
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
