Jake Bellows, Daniel Ahearn and Judson & Mary kick off SecondTuesday, a monthly songwriter series hosted by Buzz Bands LA at Lot 1 Cafe in Echo Park. The show, at 9 p.m. on Feb. 8, launches a monthly songwriter series Feb. 1 at cozy Lot 1 Cafe in Echo Park. Admission will be $5 at the door; Lot 1 serves food, wine and beer.

Bellows, an Omaha native now based in Los Angeles, fronted the indie-rock band Neva Dinova, which released three albums between 2002 and ’08 and last year saw the re-release of an expanded edition of the split album he did with Conor Oberst, “One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels,” on Saddle Creek. [More on Bellows next week.]

Ahearn is the former frontman of L.A.’s Ill Lit, which released three well-regarded albums between 2002 and ’06. After a couple solo EPs and a 2009 collection “Readings From the Wheeling Motel” – in which he and Michael Rozon crafted backing music for a reading of poems by Franz Wright – Ahearn this month is releasing his first solo full-length, titled “Long Way Home.” [More on Ahearn next week.]

Folk duo Judson & Mary are well-known to Buzz Bands LA readers – and worth seeing again.
