Tonight in L.A.: The Grammys and other music

Top show picks should you need aural cleansing after watching the Grammys:

‣ Guitarist-around-town Blake Mills (pictured) quietly released a very good solo album, “Break Mirrors,” in 2010. The guy who has played with Julian Casablancas, Jenny Lewis, Band of Horses, Jesca Hoop and Simon Dawes (among others) plays a free show tonight at the Satellite.
Chris Schlarb’s Psychic Temple [whom we told you about Saturday] performs at the Smell.
‣ It’s My Bloody Valentine night at Part Time Punks at the Echo, and one of the featured bands, Mrs. Magician, is liable to bust out a couple of MBV covers.
‣ And there are two record-release parties at the Hotel Cafe – one for O.C.’s Barrett Johnson, who just released “New Jerusalem,” and the other for Austin-based Jonny Burke, whose “Distance and Fortune” is out next week.

And not live music but good listening:

‣ Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Dntel/Postal Service dude Jimmy Tamborello and friends bring back “Give Up” (it was the name of a club night before it was the title of the Postal Service album), an evening dedicated to sad music. It goes off at the Hyperion Tavern.
