Earlier this week, while watching Hollerado open for Gang of Four at the Wiltern, an astute monitor of hype bands observed, “These guys are what the Vaccines should be.” The young Canadian four-piece probably isn’t a candidate to grace the cover of NME, but some comparisons are apt: Hollerado metes out hooky, visceral pop-rock with shades of a ’90s slacker vibe, and singer-guitarist Menno Versteeg and mates Dean Baxter and Nixon and Jake Boyd do so with such exuberance it’s impossible to stand still. They’ve made some noise with the OK Go-worthy video for “Americanarama,” which we posted earlier this week, and now that their “Record in a Bag” is out of the bag, it’s time to feed your fun.
