Lovesick takes on a dangerous meaning with Summer Camp. The London duo metes out a thick foundation of grimy, dance floor-ready pop peppered, in their latest single “I Want You,” by morose lyrics such as “If I could kiss your lips so hard your entire face would bruise / Write your name in blood on every wall so it would make the evening news.” Elizabeth Sankey and Jeremy Warmsley’s previous “Young” EP was a tight package of warm, hazy, summer sounds nostalgic of any John Hughes film. However, as exemplary as their dream-pop was, this first available cut from their forthcoming full-length (due this spring via Moshi Moshi Records) is a rush of searing juxtaposition. The lines between forlorn and frightening are blurred in this shadowy jam, stripping the stereotypical summer-camp themes of their innocence.
