[Happy Fat Tuesday … Can’t think of a better way to start it that Vaud & the Villains’ in-store performance at 3 this afternoon at Amoeba. Then there’s the rest of your night:]
A bunch of small shows and one big one:
‣ This month’s installment of Buzz Bands LA’s SecondTuesday songwriter series at Lot 1 Cafe is highlighted by Billy Harvey [see Monday’s introduction to him] and Charlie Wadhams [pictured]. Wadhams, of course, is a longtime Silver Laker who fronted the band Rex Aquarium, now plays in Willoughby (and, recently, Henry Wolfe’s band) and has released a solo album (“Free Up Your Schedule,” 2007) and two EPs. The evening starts at 9 p.m. with a set by Paper Tiger, the side project of Drew Beck and Mike Goldman of Chasing Kings.
‣ Andy Clockwise rocks the Satellite – his album “The Socialite” will be available at the show a few weeks ahead of its release – with the Californian opening.
‣ J. Irvin Dally [see November’s item on “Depistado”] headlines the Silverlake Lounge.
Two album-release shows at the Hotel Cafe – Jay Nash for his “Diamonds and Blood” and Katie Costello for her “Lamplight.”
‣ George Glass kicks off a residency at LaBrie’s in Glendale, supported by Wires in the Walls and College Kids.
‣ And some dude named Eric Clapton plays the Gibson Amphitheatre.
