Nothing against Benjamin Hoste’s excellent video for this song, but Canadian chillwaver Teen Daze has taken a kitchen appliance to Seven Saturdays’ “True Romance,” turning Jonathan Haskell’s perfectly languorous composition into a palpitation-inducing mess. The track is part of “Secret Things,” a free six-song EP that offers retooled Seven Saturdays material (the Sun Airway, White Sea and Memoryhouse remixes are keepers). We’ve loved Seven Saturdays for a long time, so here’s a recommendation: 1) Watch the video with the sound muted, then 2) Go here, put your headphones on, close your eyes and and press play on Track 7 (or better yet, buy “The Snowflakes That Hit Us Become Our Stars”). (By the way, Teen Daze’s remix for Local Natives’ “Wide Eyes” was pretty cool.)
