News bits: Silverlake Jubilee, Joshua Tree festivals

‣ Electro-rockers Ima Robot, techno-dance performance artists We Are the World (pictured) and Geotic, the side project of Baths’ Will Wiesenfeld, are among the first batch of artists confirmed to play the Silverlake Jubilee on May 21-22. The neighborhood fest, staged by the Los Angeles Arts and Athletics Alliance and benefiting a host or worthy programs, will also feature local favorites such as Dante Vs Zombies, Slang Chickens, the Black Apples, Jail Weddings and Summer Darling, along with a crop of Spanish-language standouts including Ceci Bastida, Very Be Careful and Las Cafeteras. Also on board: Twilight Sleep, Black Flamingo, Love Grenades, the Finches, Races, SISU, Cobra Lilies, Restavrant and Tommy Santee Klaws. Tickets are $5 and on sale here.
‣ Malian star Vieux Farka Toure, Chali 2na & the House of Vibe, local reggae standouts the Lions, Sean Hayes and instrumental rock duo El Ten Eleven are among the artists playing the ninth annual Joshua Tree Music Festival on May 13-15. The diverse lineup also includes Locos Por Juana, Imps of Joytime and Ursula 1000. A three-day pass is $100; single-day passes range from $40-$70; tickets available here.
