Video: The One AM Radio, ‘Everything Falls Apart’

There’s a sad irony in the fact that the One AM Radio’s video for “Everything Falls Apart” emerged this week, as the band’s label Dangerbird Records retrenched, but that’s shouldn’t detract one bit from glitchy, slow-motion splendor of Hrishikesh Hirway’s tune. On “Heaven Is Attached by a Slender Thread,” the songwriter/producer’s fourth album and second for Dangerbird, Hirway uses his beats as a gentle framework for his almost-too-languid pop songs. Keyboardist Fontaine Cole’s lead vocals provide a nifty change of pace on “Ticking Heart” and “A City Without Seasons” (“It’s hard to measure time / in a city without seasons,” nicely coupled with “… in a city you don’t believe in”), and “Sunlight” is evidence that “Everything Falls Apart” isn’t the only cinematic moment on the album (which seems a remixer’s dream). “Heaven,” which was co-produced and mixed by Tony Hoffer, came out this week.
