Coachella: Cults’ sweet taste doesn’t last long

Who: Cults in the Gobi Tent
In Three or Fewer Words: Retro. Twee. Xylophones.
I’ll Remember This Until: The next time I hear “Son of a Preacherman.” This blog-approved retro-soul duo (expanded to six pieces for this show) plays girl-led, melody-laden throwaways as enjoyable as they are disposable. She’s attractive; he plays xylophone; nothing sticks. Still, there are far worse ways to spend a hot afternoon than in the company of a cute girl with a sweet voice, even if it is one you don’t intend on listening to on repeat.
What I’d Tell My Friends Who Baked in the Sun Waiting for Gogol Bordello: Sitting in the tent instead could have put some energy on reserve for tonight – when it really matters.
