Who: Duran Duran on the main stage
In 3 Words Or Fewer: Still notoriously big.
I’ll Remember This Until: Someone doesn’t join Duran Duran on stage and exclaim, “I’m on stage with Duran Duran and I’m freaking out!” Scissor Sisters’ Ana Matronic was stating the obvious when she made a cameo for her duet with Simon Le Bon on “Safe.” But before Britain’s biggest new wave sensation from the ’80s dove into their new material off of recent albums such as “All You Need Is Now,” the synth-pop champions pulled in passersby and delighted die-hard fans with hits such as “Hungry Like the Wolf” and “Notorious.” Duran Duran may have reached their peak long ago, but there wasn’t a single soul not swooning during “Ordinary World.” New romanticism with its big gestures in pop music often follow through. However, with that said, the only minor stray from a perfect set occurred when the classic “Girls On Film” served as the last encore song and part of a mash-up with Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face.”
