Tip of the cap to Aquarium Drunkard, the L.A.-based music website that has been honored by MTV voters as Best Independent Music Blog as part of the “O Awards” (proper title: The Open, Ongoing and Online Music Awards). The site, founded by Justin Gage in 2005, beat out some heavyweight contenders to earn the honor. “Aquarium Drunkard is more than just a music blog,” John Gourley of Portugal The Man told MTV’s Buzzworthy blog. “I am not just saying that Aquarium Drunkard extends beyond the subject of music, but that it is an honest opinion of current music as well as a valuable lesson in music history. Honest being key.”
