[Happy birthday to Foo Fighters guitarman Chris Shiflett, who turns 40 today. There are parties everywhere tonight:]
‣ Dinosaur Jr. main man J. Mascis hits the Echo behind his arrestingly beautiful acoustic album, “Several Shades of Why.” The Black Heart Procession and Rachel Fannan open.
‣ First Fridays at the Natural History Museum goes off with L.A. electro dance-punk outfit Moving Units and noisy Brooklyners Crystal Stilts.
‣ U.K. electro dudes Dirty Vegas are back, with their new album “Electric Love” out last week. (That’s the Jena Malone-spangled video for the title track, above.) Performing as a four-piece, Dirty Vegas hits the Echoplex, and a couple of up-and-coming SoCal electro acts opening, White Apple Tree and Polaris at Noon.
‣ Jose Gonzalex’s Junip swings back through L.A. for a show at the El Rey Theatre, with Brooklyn duo Acrylics opening.
‣ And Prince is back for another night at the Forum.
