Video: Cold Cave, ‘Villains of the Moon’

Cold Cave‘s latest album, “Cherish The Light Years,” has all the elements of “Love Comes Close.” The synth churns, industrial drums and wailing guitars are still the trio’s signature, but on the band’s second album for Matador everything is bigger, louder and, well, more emotional. Songwriter Wesley Eisold’s New Wave influences here veer towards goth-pop – the swarthiness remains but the melodies have multiplied. “Villains of the Moon” isn’t just the accessible mainstream track on the album (unlike “Life Magazine” was last time). It includes room for guitar riffs and hooks and chooses composition over noise. Check the video out and you might see a familiar L.A. face in the new lineup. She usually has a red telephone attached to her hands.
