‣ Tift Merritt won plenty of acclaim for last year’s “See You on the Moon,” her fourth album, and her recent turn in the star-studded Big Star tribute in New York City only polished her resumé. The 36-year-old singer-songwriter nears the end of a long tour with roots rocker Stephen Kellogg tonight at the Bootleg Theater. (It’s an early show.)
‣ Rising indie-rockers Hands headline the RSVP-only It’s a School Night at Bardot, but it’s the EP release party for Obi Best’s “Sentimental Education” [previewed here]. And one of Secretly Canadian’s bright new signings, Gardens & Villa [touted here], plays too.
‣ Argentine electro-dub purveyor Federico Aubele plays the Troubadour behind his fourth album, “Berlin 13.” L.A.’s Line and Circle opens.
‣ White Arrows’ residency at the Bootleg blazes on with support from Kenan Bell and Rumspringa.
‣ The Bixby Knolls continue their residency at the Echo, with LA Font and Queen Kwong supporting.
‣ And it’s another night of music and shenanigans at the He’s My Brother She’s My Sister residency at the Satellite, where Jenny O is the special guest, Magic Mirror and Restavrant support and performance artists Anna Oxygen & Cloud Eye Control do their thing.
