Whatever intoxicants reside in Marissa Nadler’s voice, they are highly effective. Through five albums, her vaguely woozy, decidedly hypnotic vocals always seem to suggest more than her lyrics come right out and say, and the dewy reverb that coats her largely acoustic folk music implies that might be dreaming her narratives anyway. Her new album, simply titled “Marissa Nadler,” comes out next week and was a DIY affair, financed by a Kickstarter campaign. The 30-year-old Bostonian’s music has seduced plenty of fans since her 2004 debut, so it probably wasn’t a hard sell.
