Cozy shows, crazy shows – we’ll start small and work our way big:

‣ Buzz Bands LA’s SecondTuesday songwriter night at Lot 1 Cafe features Luz Elena (pictured), Chris Accardo and Mark Lane. Luz Elena is the frontwoman of the Portland indie-folk Y La Bamba, and she’s in town working on material for a solo album. Accardo’s working on songs for the follow-up to last year’s “Pardon the Invasion,” and Lane will be previewing songs from his forthcoming album “Something New.”
‣ Nashville rockers Mona hit the Echo, with L.A. Mind the Gap supporting.
‣ And that was quick – Chief, the L.A. quartet that formed at NYU and releases its debut album last year on Domino, is done already. The foursome plays its final show at the Troubadour, with Papa and Haim opening.

And now for the big stuff:

‣ The Flaming Lips do a sold-out show at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, performing their album “The Soft Bulletin.”
‣ Florence + the Machine, with Twin Shadow and Hanni El Khatib supporting, rock the Greek Theatre.
‣ Motley Crue, Poison and the New York Dolls impact wine sales at the Hollywood Bowl.
‣ And Bruno Mars, Janelle Monae and Mayer Hawthorne dress for success at the sold-out Gibson Amphitheatre.
