It’s a full-up Friday:
‣ U2. The scrappy band from Ireland. Angel Stadium.
‣ The Wooden Birds, the latest project from American Analog Set’s Andrew Kenny, bring something of an all-star lineup to the Echo for a show in support of their new album “Two Matchsticks.” Kenny’s lineup is populated by three members of Matt Pond PA (Pond himself, Leslie Sisson and Chris Haskins), along with drummer Sean Haskins. The early show also has two great L.A. support acts, A House For Lions and Daniel Ahearn.
‣ It’s “A Night With Aesop Rock and Kimya Dawson” at the Troubadour – Dawson opens, then Aesop Rock joins in to preview material from their new collaboration, and then Aesop Rock will be joined by Rob Sonic and DJ Big Wiz for a set of his material, as well as songs from their new collaboration, Hail Mary Mallon. That’s the video for “Meter Feeder,” above.
‣ And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, supported by Ringo Deathstarr and Follow That Bird, rocks the Echoplex behind their new album “Tao of the Dead.”
‣ NYC dance band the Hundred In the Hands rock the Satellite, but plenty of eyes will be on openers Electric Guest and Lesands.
‣ Miracle Parade’s 7 p.m. in-store at Origami Vinyl will be a celebration of its new album, “Hark … And Other Lost Transmissions.”
‣ And it’s opening night at the Hollywood Bowl, with Harry Connick Jr., Gloria Estefan and Cirque du Soleil.
