Gallery: Graffiti6, Eastern Conference Champions at opening night of Also I Like to Rock at the Hammer

1

Graffiti6 and Eastern Conference Champions kicked off the seventh annual Also I Like to Rock series at the Hammer Museum on Thursday night in raucous fashion. Playing to a capacity crowd in the museum’s courtyard, ECC unleashed 45 minutes of melodic, fuzz-drenched indie rock to start the night before the U.K.’s Graffiti6, with singer Jamie Scott leading the way, delivered an hour of swoon-worthy folk rock. KCRW DJ Dan Wilcox kept the crowd hopping before and between sets.

The free series continues every Thursday in July: Next week, it’s the Soft Pack and Hanni El Khatib; on July 21, Grouplove and Milo Greene; and on the 28th, the Henry Clay People and Lady Danville. Doors open at 7 (the recommended arrival time); entry is subject to capacity. Parking is $3 after 6 p.m. in the deck beneath the museum, at Wilshire and Westwood Boulevards.

The series is presented by KCRW and curated by Buzz Bands LA. Here’s some coverage of opening night:
